I've had my Z a long time. For a few years it was my daily driver, now it is for lack of a better description, somewhat neglected. Not neglected as in a state of disrepair, more as in not driven enough.
You can see in my profile, but the car has a basic bolt-on setup - it dynoed 350whp/360tq a couple years ago.
Some friends organized a track day at Thunderhill yesterday and I figured I'd bring out the Z and see what was what. I've been doing crapcan racing for the past couple of years so I have a moderate amount of track seat time, just not in anything with power approaching the Z.
The Z had no problems in the power department. Unfortunately, for me at least, it would be an uphill climb to make the car track-worthy.
With a helmet on, I found out I'm too tall, so initially a racing seat would be in order.
I also found out quickly that Pirelli all-season PZero Neros (400 treadwear) are completely overmatched on a track. At least that problem would be pretty easily remedied.
The stock brakes (with slotted brembo rotors) were completely cooked after four or five laps. No cheap way around getting a decent BBK.
Still, I had a good time driving it and got some good tips from better drivers than myself. Here I am riding along with a friend who can haul some ass.
